I made this thread so people who want to do this mod can see that it can be done and won't get discouraged (like I almost did) when they see that the charges for the airbags are different. I was not going to do this swap if it was going to compromise the functionality of my airbag and I'm certain, with the way I did it, that my airbag is fully functional in the event of an accident. Which of course I hope never happens.
If you don't like it, that's your opinion. Share how you would've done it better (doubt that). However, if you want to hate on what I did to MY car, Fuck off. Thanks!

There are only two parts to the airbag assembly. The charge(bomb) and the actual bag itself which is attached to the vinyl part. There is no way to separate the two without ruining the airbag. If you want to try, you can but know that a brand new Scion airbag retails for about $650. Take a look at the picture, that pink part is the actual bag which is nicely packed in there and right behind the vinyl.
While I do wish there was/is a more cost effective way to do the change, it really seems as though this is the only way to SAFELY do it. Please let us know if you discover another way man.

I still say it is worth it, to get the 86 look. I am definitely going to do it, if I get a FR-S...

I haven't done it, but when I get the front fog lights, I will make the rear fog work as a fog light though.

That bag looks awesome, if I didn't have other mods I want more it would be on the short list.
Car looks great.

So the 86/GT-86 came with what I got, and that's what I did. Keeps it clean, keeps it original.

This is an awesome mod. Thank you!
Monogram to GT86 is where it's at!
Where are people purchasing this from? The only place I could find was nigel-jdm, but it does not show the part #. Would like to get the direct dual-stage replacement SU003-03413
