I ran into Denlin yesterday before the meet. Was nice meeting you. While doing some shopping in Briar Creek I parked next to Denlin's red BRZ and a white one I found out works at the T-mobile there. I gave him the info on the 86 meets and my number. The three of us made for a very patriotic red, white, and blue. I didn't catch the white in a photo but I think Denlin may have.
I was able to get to some changes I have been on the edge about for a while now. I used some plasti dip to check out what I thought of going gold on the wheels for that classic Subie look. I found that the metalizer I had is
not the best tool for the job. There just isn't enough flake in the clear gloss to get good coverage. I kinda gave up and gave it two heavy coats and then left what remained of the base coat showing through. I give the execution maybe a 2 but it was enough for me to tell that I liked the change. I'll do something better while I burn off the stock tires and then look for some gold aftermarket wheels.
I think the end result is a look that is not as "high-end" not quite as sophisticated, and maybe even a little less impressive but is more ostentatious, more playful, and more fun. Feel free to knock some sense into me if I get too ricey.
I don't think I'll be able to make any meets until after the new year but may check out Cars and Coffee next Saturday if it is still on. Have a happy holidays all.
