So the question is: Do you have another "family" car?
If yes, then the FRS may be a "toy".
If no, then it is not a toy just the family car. A really bad choice maybe, but still just the family car.
As a kid I grew up with a 64&1/2 Mustang as the family car. Also a really bad choice but that was what we had.
Mine is not a "toy" either. In fact it is a vital tool in my work and I trust it to get things done for me and it does that job way better then any car I have had before.
Now...when only driven on weekends, in perfect weather, tracked exclusively or, like I said when I started, as a second car then sure it is a "toy".
A lot of people give them a status that seems to put them out of the practical realm but really, when used as a DD, they are just a car.
