Some creepy crap coming out here. I just bought my FRs in sept 2014 and had an idle fluctuation only a few times. When I rolled it out of the showroom (that's a first for me and a new car ) told to bring it in for oil change at 8000 km I said it would be back at 4. I am a tech by trade and any time I built an engine I would test run it and dump the oil and filter ( and bag the crap out of it on the test drive). Then I insist on another change in 3000 km and then a schedule of every 5000 km. As I tell my customers, oil is far cheaper then an engine ( synthetic or not )
Any new design has glitches, some minor some not. I will treat my Scion like anything else, push hard for a bit then go back to normal driving except for the occasional push. VVt can be problematic if the oil is low on pressure or dirty but my experience with Toyota and Subaru in the bays has shown me they have a good thing going on. As I am not overly familiar as yet with this new co-build I now want to learn as much as possible.
Believe me if it has a problem I will be the first tech to run a diagnostic before it goes to the dealer.
I would love to get my hands on a bagged engine to strip down and inspect....I'm just that kinda guy.
