I stopped visiting there about a year ago for the things you mention. the few times ive been back has been barely related topics and some NEW article about that beat to shit bug. you love your car, we get it, how about something new?

I do like some of their writers when they write useful things: Doug Demuro is pretty reliable, Torch and Orlove get at least one article worth reading a week and when Chris Harris isn't writing about shit or press life he's got a great perspective on cars (disagree with his priorities though, he's gunning to take Clarkson's place at times, kinda lame).
Edit: High praise for Tavarish too, his articles about flipping cars are great, living the life.
