turbines in general are extremely efficient, much more so than any other type of dynamic machinery. gas turbines are amongst the more efficient turbines
thats why turbines are used in electricity generation (both from nuclear power and potential energy)
the efficiency of these ones is more like 95% i was exagarating
axial flow steam turbines are 98% (same design essentialy but)
40-50% efficiency is what you see from new age diesels
