Why go catted? When you can go uncatted. Regardless its still illegal in Cali due to emission laws.
So what are the advantages? Quieter while maintaining similar gains?

Basically, you get more linear power deliver and a few more HP without needing a tune. Not needing a tune was a big plus for me. If I ever want a non-catted header, I'll have a weld shop cut out the cat and replace with a straight pipe. Getting a tune is also still an option if catted.
I've had my FT86SF header for 5,500 miles without any issues. Both spirited driving and long road trips.
System: K&N Drop in, Perrin inlet tube, FT86 SF header, Motiv over pipe, Motiv catted front pipe, Greddy SP Elite axleback.
Not as "Free flowing" as some people's system, so maybe that's why I haven't had issues. Was also really careful with the O2 sensors on install.
