Holy crap I tried the hard mode raid on saturday, what a clusterfuck.

Got the Vault open nice and easy, then we couldn't beat the confluxes, people dying left and right on the first wave. We almost beat the second wave once but then 3 of us went down at the same time, we gave up and skipped ahead to the gatekeepers despite the fact I desperately wanted a Fatebringer.

Then we started having NAT issues and half the people couldn't hear the other half of the people in the fireteam.

Given the communication problems I'm sure no one is surprised we had just as much trouble on the gatekeepers, no one could stay alive outside or the relic carrier kept dying inside the portals. Couple of people rage quit.

Then we skipped to Atheon, found some more players, still having NAT issues. After about 10 wipes where we only got the bubble up maybe 2-3 times people started dropping off and that was it.

Because i'd already done the normal mode I didn't get a single drop because we didn't beat a single boss. Made me mad, I didn't play the whole rest of the weekend.

TLDR; tried HM raid, 3 hours of my life and we didn't beat a single boss. Got zero loot.

Yep, hard mode is just that as I quickly found out in the 10-15 minutes I got to play it. I've pretty much given up on the Raid or hitting level 30 the way things currently stand with the game. I'm not even sure I'm getting the DLC now. After we did the Raid on normal Friday night, I probably played a total of 2 hours the rest of the weekend. I'll probably wait for some reviews to comeout on the DLC once it drops to make up my mind. If the Raid is going to be the only mechanism in place to hit max light level, then my interest may wane dramatically. That means I'd be paying $20 for just a couple more stories and one strike, doesn't seem worth it IMO.

I also realized this weekend that there's almost too many weapons. Half of my exotic/legendaries are sitting in the Vault right now. So much work just to get one weapon maxed out, especially if it's an exotic. Now with the DLC about to drop, I hear new weapons are coming with higher damage stats so what's the point in even trying to max out half the ones I got that are just sitting right now?
