Never use Lacquer Thinner to clean a painted surface. It's meant to remove cured and dried paint.

Use Mineral Spirits/Paint Thinner. Which is much weaker than Lacquer Thinner and is safe on cured/dried paint.

But, before using any solvents...I would use a more aggressive claybar (or alternative claybar). The Nanoskin Medium grade sponge works well to remove overspray. I just used it a few weeks ago on my 24/7 outdoor 10yo Tacoma, that's never been clayed, with super heavy contaminants on hood/roof/tailgate. Cut through all of the 10 years worth of build up in a few swipes.
