Yes, you can only participate in 86s cup if you are in Point-by or Open. Given with only 1 track day in the past, you can run with Solo group. Solo Y is still open so register quick. There are some 86s running in Solo at Lagua Seca. Solo Y and G are no difference.
You can still rent the transponder to record your time if possible.
As for NCRC running group, you are automatically in Solo if you have at least one track day. You can pass only on straight (they will have driver meeting and go over those things with you). Once in solo, moving up will be depending on your personal progress. In order to move up, you can request NCRC instructor to sit with you in the group you wish to move up. If he thinks you are ready, he will move you up.
