I would do as large of a hole at the top as possible and only as big as the ducting will allow. Build ducting the narrows (decreasing cross-sectional area) to the outlet. Some sort of gurney or wicker at the outlet for added effect if needed.
I can look in our CAD of the car and see what we can do there.
