Review on the STS turbo
I went there just the other week and went on a ride along in their BRZ. I was quite surprised! First off the sound was phenomenal - unlike anything I have ever heard before. The power they were pushing was right around 300RWHP on 7psi, which is right in line with most other base kits out there. The price was a little high (I am paying right around 6K for my kit W/O inter-cooler but I got the bigger turbo housing and misc upgraded parts). Everything under the car fit way better then the stock muffler - I am still thinking about welding on a shroud or something to protect the turbo from rocks n stuff but also in my mind is that it will be fine due to the thick powder coating they do. Some people are worried about hitting or scraping the turbo on road hazards but some thing to think about is that the turbo basically sits right next to the rear axle so speed bumps will push the tires/axle up and in turn the turbo with it. Another thing is the fact that STS' BRZ is still rolling down the road fine with 10K miles and no under belly scraps even tho they lowered theirs with coils about 2'-3'. All in all I thought it was a good kit, maybe, not worth the money but I could not resist the noise it made and the fact that its super easy to swap it back to stock and cash in the warranty if a factory defect presents itself later on (which these cars are known to have).
They are building the pipes n such for my kit but I will be doing the install. I will GoPro the install and place it on youtube with a verbal pros n cons of the performance/install/looks of the kit.
