Bluetooth Disconnecting

I have been struggling ever since I owned this car with bluetooth randomly dropping out. During phone calls, while listening to music, while not doing anything in particular - I would constantly get disconnect messages.

I assumed that it was a hardware issue for a while, or a problem with my phone and was just too lazy to bring it in to subaru or try to fix it myself, so I just learned to live with it.

Recently I got a new phone (Nexus 5) and was disappointed when the problem was not fixed. As time progressed the problem got worse and worse. My phone would disconnect on average once every 2 minutes or so. Today I reached my limit and did the following:

- Unpaired the car from my phone, and cleared my bluetooth cache and deleted bluetooth data from my phone.
- Deleted all of my old phones from the head unit.
- Did an 'initialize' on the head unit.
- Ejected the SD card via the context menu, reinserted and restarted my car
- Deleted all user data from the head unit (its a menu option)
- Changed the bluetooth passcode
- Repaired my phone, this time NOT syncing messages or contacts

It now works flawlessly.

Hopefully this helps someone...
