The engram
guarantees an exotic armor class item. Whether or not it will be for your character class is
NOT guaranteed. I've purchased two in the time I've played Destiny. One decrypted into an exotic chest piece I needed for my hunter at the time. The second decrypted into Sunbreakers for a warlock which I will never play that class so I dismantled it.
