I'm sorry you feel that the sales team misinformed you. I do think a 3.0" exhaust is the ideal fit if you are planning on going with the Vortech SC. It will provide more power than a 2.5" exhaust. At the expense of exhaust loudness of course. But as we are seeing in this thread, perceived loudness is subjective. There are options though as any decent muffler shop will be able to add a secondary resonator to your mid pipe to quiet things down a bit.

Unfortunately, we are dealing with a 4 cylinder motor which will never sound that terrific (compared to an 6 or 8 cylinder) so different exhaust combinations will manage the inherent compromise differently. And different people like different things. Myself, I tend to like things quiet. That is the reason I keep the factory front pipe in my FRS. I also have an OFH and a custom single tip exhaust (with large Magnaflow muffler). The sound is perfectly fine but coming from BMWs and Porsches, I would never say that it's anymore more than mildly pleasing. But certainly a lot better sounding that other cars I've heard running no cats, bullet style muffler, etc,.

shiv
