The most common E36 is 3100lbs, which is too much for a 90's car in my humble opinion. You have to find the 318ti to get one under 2800lbs, but then the blocks are cast iron so they don't gain as much weight with an LSJuan. The Renesis is an overweight piece of crap in my opinion. The Mazda RX8 is the one time I seriously considered getting into this LS swap stuff. It's a great chassis but with a subpar "unique" engine.
Anyway, back on topic. I had a beater Foxbody for a very brief time and it was still too heavy and flexible for how small it was. Most of that extra length over a smaller 2+2 is given to the engine bay. Now, I have horrible taste in vehicle styles, I'll admit that anytime, but I just can't get over the new/old styling. It's not aerodynamic nor is it nostalgic to me. The 2.3L ecoboost might be as brilliant as the 2.0L and 1.6L but I'm not touching the new Mustangs anymore than I would walk onto a BMW dealership and rub my greasy fingers on a new 1 series. That's just my humble opinion.
