I woul have no bad blood against Toyota/Subaru if they decide to offer a GT4/STi version for $30+K as long as I still get my ~2600lb/200+ hp NA RWD and 260hp+ turbo rwd. It's not as if Toyota has a whole lineup of sports cars and are wondering where they can position this.
As long as the original idea is not f'ked with, I say the more variants the merrier, sell as much as possible, keep the FT-86 alive dammit.
