This is my advice as well. A test drive is free - take advantage of the opportunity. Don't just drive it around the block either, and bring with you whoever you would be spending time with while driving.
I've got a 13 BRZ and my wife has a 13 GC. Both nice cars, but the BRZ fits like a glove and continues to fit like a glove through the turns. The GC has a nicer interior as far as amenities are concerned, but it drives like a pig through the turns and it just doesn't "fit" well. Power is comparable as my BRZ is boosted. Without that, the GC walks away easily in the straights.
Can't speak to the Mustang, I haven't driven one since the 67. I've heard nice things about the current V6 though.
