Repairs are for the tread area only. You're within the tread area. You can see the line in the rubber. That screw looks to be less than 1/4" in diamter. Not big at all. Go to America's Tires. They'll probably fix it right, and possibly for free. Nitto even has guidelines about the tire's speed rating after repair. You'll be sad to know that your tires will likely only be good for 130mph.
Considering three different reputable tire businesses gave me the same answer, I'm inclined to believe them. Was it frustrating that I had to replace 3 tires in a 4 month period? Yes it was. However, if you can't afford a new tire then you can't afford this car not to mention the safety concerns for yourself and others on the road should you decide to drive on a questionable tire that isn't replaced or repaired properly.
