Sorry, but Federal regulations now state that tire shops can't repair any punctures that are within 2 inches of the sidewall. No, I can't quote the regulation for you but I've had to replace 3 tires on 2 vehicles in the last 4 months. The first time I took it to the dealership and when they told me that I thought they were trying to pull a fast one one me so I drove it across the street to the local Sam's Club. They told me the same thing. I then phoned a guy I went to high school with back in California who owns a tire shop and he told me the same thing. So 3 tires, 4 months. Not happy but in the end a tire shop will follow the laws less they face lawsuit and fines and also you have to consider your safety and those on the highways you will be driving with.
