Isn't 2650 lbs a little bit on the lighter side of hybrids? Current Prius is coming in at 3,042 lbs.
That is the EPA score. 35mpg average is a lot harder to get on the EPA cycle than the real world especially for manual trannies that can't be tuned for economy gear switching. That and you can't cross compare scores like that. You can't compare real world mileage for a different car to the EPA score for a different car. Compare yours to it's EPA or EPA to EPA scores not yours to another car's EPA score. If you get above EPA MPG in your cars than the MPG will be better on the more efficient car.

The CR-Z is a hybrid. 0-60mph in 9 seconds is plenty fast enough.
