Nope 30 years ago we were trying to find more badges to tack on! Think it was more of the "Fast and Furious" early 2000s crowd that thought it looked cool. Even heard a Civic fanboy tell his buddies that he could go faster without the wind resistance! I told him that without them he had less risk of burning up during re-entry but he didn't get the joke and just stared at me.
