Well, Sounds like they forgot to install your heat shield AND left your wires vulnerable. Good thing you didn't have an electrical fire. It sounds like they are responsible for this failure from what you have told us. I would at least let them know. Am I wrong?
While your logic is sound you are indeed wrong in this case. Yes the heat shield was missing, and I got a turbo blanket installed because of that. I had been driving for months without issue lacking that heat shield.

In this exact case I am at fault. PTuning had redesigned my intake and secured the wiring harness to the MAF against a piece of hose near where my AOS lines needed to route. I had cut the zip-tie holding the wires in place and nothing seemed to be wrong with it at the time. Turns out the drive belt ate its way through the wires. Lesson learned.

Got my car back and everything runs fine.
