No, that wouldn't be fade.

Webster's defines fade as:
: to lose strength or freshness
: to become weaker
: to disappear gradually
: to become less bright
: to lose color


See, when the sun shines on something for a long time, the colour will start to fade. If it has been sitting in the sun for the past year, that paint under the badge could be brighter/sharper than the area exposed to the sun for the past year.

I mean... it's not rocket science, it's just a bit of common sense.
