I was trying to do this too. I gave up and just bought a kit to add an additional unswitched cigarette lighter port(tapped off of the radio harness). This is much simpler.

I fiddled with trying to get to the connections for the port in the console(which you can get to by pulling the E-brake veil) but I just didn't want to pull the entire thing apart to run wires.
