I think, intuitively, you are correct on this since not all the images are taken based on the same focal point or same distance from the car, so there might be skewed at the edge of the picture. To be really precise, all the cars must be placed at the same distances away from the camera for this to be 100% precise. However, given that condition is almost impossible, we have to treat this as an estimate comparison.
I will work on the GT-R comparison. I actually had the pleasure to see one GT-R (gun metal color) in person, and saw a Celica (2000-2005 model, similar size with FT-86) at the same parking lot. Unfortunately, they are not parked very closed. But just based on my visual, the GT-R is really big compared with the Celica.
