I don't guess at things. Everything is always open for discussion and any theory better than the one I have is welcomed.
The dots size, material, colour, pattern are totally irrelevant as it isn't even the same car, belt or anything for that matter.
Keep in mind that my celica had never been washed under there for 11 years so there is going to be way more spatter.
If I cleaned it off and drove for a week Im sure I could come up with the same patterns.
The point is I really don't think its a bug or insect
My frs hood is black so I can't see these spots on it and i only have 3500 kilometers on it plus it only goes out on dry days.
The FRS does have covers to stop the spatter from happening and its exactly what they are for.
However the pattern on the white FRS is farther back from where the pulleys are but there is also very few dots.
There is a little black grommet on the clutch housing. I wonder if the OP's is missing
I still stand by my theory though. Being an engineer for this market I just don't see it being from a bug or insect.
