I think what he's getting at is that expecting the rumoured 200lbs weight loss to come to fruition was wishful thinking in the first place - you just can't lose 200lbs on a car the size of a Mustang without raising prices significantly through the use of exotic materials.
I don't think he's saying that the Mustang ACTUALLY lost 200lbs (quite the opposite)
