As a life-long Mustang fan (I've owned four V8 Mustangs over the last 25 years) I really wanted the new S550 Mustang to be what Ford had originally talked about with the new Mustang, namely smaller and lighter than the outgoing S197. Too bad they went the opposite direction.

I've really come to appreciate small, lightweight RWD cars that handle well over the last 10-15 years, and that is why I picked up the BRZ and Miatas. I hoped the new Mustang would come in around 3300-3400 lbs and be a few inches shorter and no wider than my '08 GT, but as we all know, it got bigger and heavier. Still sounds like a pretty awesome car, just not quite what I'm looking for, especially at that price. I'll happily keep my '08 GT for at least a few more years which "only" had a curb weight of 3490 lbs, and is closer to 3350 lbs at autocross weight in stock/street class.
