Go out there and just have fun.

Many people, including the quote above and myself, will tell you to go out and learn the car before making changes. It is difficult to learn unless you have some way to review what happened. Therefore, some kind of video of your driving would be helpful. The best would be to see your hands on the wheel and the car. If you have a GoPro or some other camera, use it. You will learn more from that than anything else in my opinion.

But most importantly, have fun. If you get upset and whiny about not winning your first time out, you will have a bigger struggle. A good target is to make each run you do faster than the previous.
