before i bought my frs, i was deciding between an E92 M3 and a FRS. completely different price and class and cars, but i love BMW's and have always wanted to own a new M3 fresh from the factory. i was unable to afford one new until finally in the recent couple years... which is why i had just a regular e92 328 before. lol. anyway, after a few times driving a new m3, i knew that was too much car for what i need right now. i would either crash the car, get multiple speeding tix or go broke buying all those mods with the stupid M-tax. so the next best thing imo? i got an FRS. i test drove one and bought it on the spot. still fun as hell to drive but not too powerful to get me in trouble often. and i did 90% of my mods within the first 2 months and still have plenty of play money left over!! LOL
i totally get what you mean by having a daily driver that has too much power than needed on the daily. and the whole "pay to play" bs that some people spout, well then i'd rather play later with two cars instead. i'll get my m3 later in the future when i have enough space to garage my cars.
and if you're considering going back to auto-x, then i definitely recommend the frs/brz. these cars are so fucking fun even bone stock! and a lot of the kids and noobs will say the prius tires suck and this and that, but i see that as lack of driver skill. the stock suspension set up with "prius tires" still handle awesomely and still more than what the average person is capable of.
