I'm on 17x8 5x114.3 STI BBS wheels on 15mm adapter spacers with 225/55R17 studless Blizzak tires and I just BARELY rub up front on the lower front fender at a slight angle when turning the wheel. Otherwise at full lock it passes just fine.
I don't know how you're rubbing at all with 235/45R17 tires on a 17x8 +48 wheels. I'm about to have 235/45R17 2011 WRX tires mounted on the STI BBS wheels and I know I won't rub at full lock-to-lock. If I'm wrong, however, I'll let you know.
That all being said, 225/45R17 is basically stock tire dimensions, so unless your stock wheels and tires rubbed, you'll be fine. I had 225/45R17 all-seasons for a bit on my stock wheels, but I had them mounted on the rear wheels.
