Considering how awful so many people turn out to be, I think the best way to pay back your parents is to actually turn out the way they always hoped you would.
Not accounting for crazy over-bearing parents with unreal expectations they project onto their children to make up for their own poor life choices and inadequacies... there's nothing you can do for those parents.
