I can deal with the other frivolous shortcomings of the car. I bought it already understanding what I was getting into. But the gearbox is embarrassing to listen to. The more I drive it the more I wish they got it right. Off throttle in first and second especially the gears clatter and sound like the transmission is destroyed. Why did they think this was OK? None of my other cars were like this at all.

If it was crunching right off the lot, why haven't you taken it in?
Plus, I think most people don't know what a loud or clunky transmission is. Try a Miata for loud and a MKIII Supra for clunky...
