From what I know, I think it's get the L's first, drive around with dad or mum or someone who's got a full license for about 120-200 hours (dunno if they've changed it yet), then get P's after I've finished the hours and am 18.

Why I'm deciding to go for a car now if to practice in it, get more experience in a different car and get better at driving.
