I tested those methods on my WRX which has the same front suspension. There are no bushings or anything so having a friend push is just as good as using a jack, the jack just lets you do it by yourself.
Agree on the RS 1.0, I'm not sure they'll even class it and if they do it'll get stuck in BS.
