1st: do what you are doing. Keep negotiating with the GM and let him/her know that you will not accept anything less than a new motor and a rental car. It will be cheaper for the dealership to provide a new motor than a new car.
2nd: if that fails .... as much as I despise attorneys .... get one. The attorney needs to write a letter to show that you mean business.
3rd: in my city .... the local TV news depts/local papers will investigate business' that have screwed their customers. Contact them with your story.
