One thing I think we all need to sit down and remember is that we don't know the op or his mother. I'm sure he knows her much more than we do and is much more enlightened as to whether this was a fair question or not. I highly doubt his intentions were to raise a gender war on an auto forum or to be sexist towards all women. He was only concerned about his mother and if people would harass her. I could imagine if somebody was going to lend a family member their ford raptor, they would also be concerned about other guys...or girls in big trucks harassing that family member too.
Reading over the op again, it could be misconstrued that he was referencing his mother driving ability, or women's driving ability, but that would only be the case if you were looking to make it mean that. The very next sentence he talked about guys in the car getting looks and so forth.
The biggest issue I saw with this topic is that so many people have taken it in such convoluted directions, that the original all question was lost. Would his mother be harassed while driving his little sports car? That's it
