Okay so if I get this straight, first pull the boot towards the rear of the car, then towards the left to stretch it over to expose the pin, then extract the pin and washer. Then, pull the shift lever apart from the fork. Is the dust boot like really stiff to stretch? I'm thinking that's why a lot of people torn it? STI does come with a new boot, I'm thinking maybe just cut the old boot off with a pair of cutters. Then again, I'm worried I would tear the new one while putting it on.
I see on the diagram there are also two plastic collars on the fork that goes into the shift lever, do those slide out or are they stuck to the shift lever during the struggle?
