Seems like GL-4 75W-80, which isn't that much off the 75W-90 weight. I like how I'm doing research to defend OP now...
In any case, I still think the dealer could have communicated the non-OEM transmission fill better to Subaru corporate. To assume a seal would leak because of a different fill fluid (that isn't even that much thinner than stock) is borderline irresponsible as a service technician or manager.
