For one, the hood is aluminum, naturally aluminum transfers heat faster(by a lot) than steel. Also, if you pop the hood, and look underneath, you will see there is very little insulating material(this is a good thing imo.)

As far as temps, in normal driving conditions, I usually see around 180-195f coolant, and anywhere from 200-225f oil. If your needle is staying in the middle, your fine.
