Cumulative experience of all of our customers is probably 100's of thousands of miles. Many of them run flex fuel and/or e85. Our car just crossed 30k miles, probably 25k of which are on ethanol.

0 issues, except more rapid clutch and tire wear from the additional power. No fuel filter issues, no injector issues, nothing. We had one customer with clogged DIs come in last month. What did he run? Crappy pump gas. Never seen any alcohol. I keep seeing the one article/web site quoted over and over again with those ugly pictures, but in reality it is just an opinion and has absolutely no empirical basis.

The only possible draw back I can imagine on ethanol is wear on the DI pump. But this is one reason ethanol still has 15% gas in it--for lubrication. However we won't know the true failure rates for probably a few more years. But even then, I highly doubt we will see anything. Mazdaspeed folks have been running e85 for years and they run mechanical DI pumps as well. Those are much more finicky, and they are not impacted by ethanol.
