The JR CARB tune is designed with this in mind; I don't believe *ANY* tuner on this board has ever mentioned something like this before.
We've melted the OEM cats with a 100% stock engine due to the very early OEM tunes being.... less than steller.
Our demo BRZ has had plenty of WOT/track/spirited driving time, and the CAT is still solid. The Jackson Racing test mules also still have their cats intact.
In the harshest conditions, we see a max cat temp of about 1415F (track, 115+ ambient). Under normal conditions, it's usually fluctuating between 1100-1200, and occasionally will get up to about 1300 if you're doing a long uphill drive.
For reference, the 2015 WRX sees a cat temp of about 1400 when driven on track in stock form.

Ok good points, just clarifying for all up costs thoughts purpose. Being my car has aftermarket exhaust etc already and would not be carb tune was concerned with the question "buy (x) brand aftermarket header now when getting kit or don't bother...
