Toyota worked with Subaru durring the mechanical design phase despite it being mostly Subaru parts. At one point it WAS an Impreza framework, but since the original mule it's been heavily modified to be lighter and smaller. At what point is it no longer an Impreza part but a "toyobaru" part.

The bottom line is the car was made by BOTH companies, and the car belongs to both as well hence the ability to buy a BRZ or a Ft-86. The whole "who made it" argument is pointless.
