The lock up clutch engages in auto and manual, also regardless of the sport mode. It is based on throttle position, RPM and load (plus maybe other stuff...?).
I've heard that it never engages in 1st gear, but I'm not 100% certain of that myself. I have DashCommand and there is a PID for AT Lock Up Status, but I haven't seen it populate any values in any mode or gear. I'm gonna talk to Palmer Performance to see if they have it working on the right parameters.
