There is a reason people have been putting LS engines in all kinds of FR import cars for years. FC/FD RX7s, 2nd/3rd gen Supras, Miatas. They make a lot of torque/HP, are fairly reliable, and parts for them are plentiful and cheap since there are so many around. In a few years the 86 is probably going to be one of the most popular LS swap cars IMHO. There will be almost PnP kits to do it I'm sure.

I think it would be cool to stick one of the new Mustang EcoBoost 2.3L engines in an 86, but it's an inline 4 and looks too tall. That engine has forged everything inside and is going to make a ton of power when tuned.
