The Z is more refined, faster, slightly pricier, and (imo) better looking.
FRS handles a little better, and has a better "driver-car connection".
Had a '06 Z before the FRS. It was an oil burner (a common problem apparently unique to '06 models with manual tranny). Really liked the Z better, but my experience left me not really confident about Nissan quallity.
