Some people just want to sell cars and make money, they don't care about how they make the sale, they just want to make it. Those are the same as the workers that don't care about the job, they just want the paycheck.

Others genuinely care about their job and what they do. They go out of their way to make sure customers are taken care of, or that the job is done right 100% of the time. Those people don't just want the paycheck, they want a meaningful work experience.

In the grand scheme of things, don't sweat about these things too much unless you're shopping for a car. Who knows, maybe the guy was just being an ass because you brushed off the receptionist and he has the last laugh.
