The only major different is if you choose between gift or... the other option (can't remember sorry). The gift means you'll pay a small surcharge that paypal tacks on, the other makes me pay the charge.
The charge is so small I really don't care either way.

Gifting does not incur a charge to either party for Paypal. The other options do. So Gifting would work the best as nobody has to pay the small fee.
Do note that you cannot reclaim the money if you gift it. So dont using gifting unless you can trust the person/other party. So dont do that on Ebay or elsewhere.
