So if you had a map loaded in slot 3 and flashed that, then moved the maps around when loading new maps on the device, it would still show that you had slot 3 flashed, even if you had moved a new map into that slot.
This information is a few months old however, so not sure if they have changed things since then.

I just hooked it up and turned on the ignition. Clicked on "Information" which is the bottom right selection after the OFT loads. The next screen specifically says which file is loaded into the ECU.
